Valuing the Opportunity to Stay Connected with Best Friends
Thanks to Jeff Adams ’75 for participating in this Q&A.
Why did you join KA as an undergraduate?
I really liked the guys who were members of the chapter, and I just felt comfortable there.
What is the single fondest memory you have shared/will share with your children and grandchildren?
There are so many great memories that it is impossible to pick one. Football weekends, parties, road trips, intramural sports and learning how to succeed academically at a very difficult school…I have shared many of these stories with my children over the years.
How do you stay connected with your brothers as an alumnus?
I return to campus and spend homecoming weekend with the KAs every year if I possibly can. Otherwise, email and Facebook are great ways to keep in touch.
What about your membership in KA makes you the most proud?
I was Treasurer and President for the chapter, and I’m pleased that I was able to serve in those ways. I am also proud of the brothers who became such good friends of mine. They are quality people to be associated with.
How would your life be different today if you had never joined KA?
It is impossible to know, of course. But I do know that the leadership positions I held within KA really helped me to develop leadership skills and learn what it means to have responsibilities where a lot of people are depending on you. So I think my experiences in KA definitely helped prepare me for a successful life.
Where has life taken you since graduation? What’s new in your life today?
I have had a great professional career that has taken me to stops in Georgia, South Carolina, New York, and now, Ohio. It has also provided me with the opportunity to travel all over the world. My wife, Kendall, and I became empty-nesters last year when our youngest child went off to college, so after more than 25 years of having kids in the house we are enjoying some quiet times and the freedom to go where and when we want to.
What is the best thing about your alumni experience?
KA was a huge part of my college experience, so I really value the opportunity to stay connected with the guys who were, and still are, some of my very best friends.
